Head and shoulders three-quarters frontal portrait of Premier John Ballance

The artist P. T. Cole also painted Richard Seddon and his wife Louisa. In his book 'Vanity varnished' (19310 Cole mentions visiting New Zealand and painting both Ballance and Seddon while he was in the country. Ballance died shortly afterwards
