Description: Views of Mount Tarawera, Lake Tarawera, the Black Crater in eruption, Echo Lake Crater, and the point where the great Waimangu Geyser burst forth some years later. [The geyser played between 1900 and 1904]. (See Wise's New Zealand guide). Some of the photographs were taken by Charles Spencer, one of the members of Stephenson Percy Smith's party which surveyed the area in 1886 after the Tarawera eruption; and some photographs were taken by Josiah Martin.
