inTELLigence. 13 December 2010
The word 'inTELLigence' appears in the centre of the cartoon. Surrounding the word are a number of invisible people whispering secrets 'SSSSH', 'It's a secret?', 'But she's told everybody', 'Maybe she didn't read the cable', 'Maybe she didn't get it', 'She should read it on Wikileaks', 'SSSSH'. Context; WikiLeaks is an international non-profit organisation that publishes submissions of private, secret, and classified media from anonymous news sources and news leaks. Supporters of Wikileaks in the media have commended it for exposing state and corporate secrets, increasing transparency, supporting freedom of the press, and enhancing democratic discourse while challenging powerful institutions. At the same time, several U.S. government officials have criticised WikiLeaks for exposing classified information, harming national security, and compromising international diplomacy.
