- Description
A small boat in a rough sea, being badly managed by New Zealand politicians. The boat is called Stability, the sails marked Wages and Prices. Robert Muldoon (Minister of Finance) is attempting to hold one of the stays in place, John Marshall (Minister of Labour) is unhappily reading a chart, which he is holding upside-down, Keith Holyoake (Prime Minister) is having trouble at the steering wheel, the President of the Federation of Labour is seated on the cabin, his arms folded, saying 'No', Norman Kirk (Leader of the Opposition) below him, and the New Zealand public is vomitting over the side of the boat. The New Zealand farmer has gone overboard and is grasping a rope in a state of alarm. Refers to perceptions that the management of the economy is in a bad state, with wages and prices rising out of control.
