This engine was built by Yorkshire Engine Co., Sheffield (maker's no. 242/74). It is not known when this engine entered service, but it was altered ca 1892. (Information from the 'Register of New Zealand Steam Locomotives 1863-1971' by W G Lloyd, 1974, page 50. It states: Written off in 1895). See also caption at Pa1-q-101 (Godber Album vol 108, p 18): "F as altered 1892". In the album it says this engine was not written off until 1929.
