Butterflies and moths of Georgia on plants of the area, painted between 1816 and 1818, accompanied by Abbot's holograph list of contents. Also coloured photograph of Abbot's headstone, including portrait, in Woodland Co., Georgia.
Intended to act as a companion volume to J.E.Smith's "The natural history of the rarer lepidopterous insects of Georgia"
Six reproduced as Turnbull Library Prints in 1983, with the intention of producing yearly fascicles to make a complete facsimile. Scheme discontinued for lack of popular appeal.
