Marion Tylee studied art in Miss Baber's academy in Wellington. In 1923 she won a NZ Academy of Fine Arts award for a watercolour. In 1927 she studied in London and in Paris. From 1945 Marion lived and worked in Palmerston North and played a major role in the development of the Manawatu Art Gallery
