- Shows two Maori standing in the centre foreground. Around them everyday activities are going on in an enclosed pa, with hills in the distance. The pa scene shows certain general similarities to John Alexander Gilfillan's "Interior of a native village or pa in New Zealand situated near the town of Petre, at Wanganui ..." [ca 1851].
