Two people in a canoe in a still backwater, with a rocky foreshore to the left, with trees, and a flax-covered foreshore to the right. Tall bush-clad hills behind, touched with the red glow of sunrise or sunset.
Alexander LeGrand Campbell exhibited a painting called View in Queen Charlotte Sound at the inaugural exhibition of the Fine Arts Association of New Zealand in Wellington in March 1883. It may possibly be this watercolour.

"Anon" appears to be in another hand. Also inscription on back of backing board in the hand of a former staff member with title, date, former location, and (incorrect) artist's name.]
