A kauri log being put through a breaking down bench by two timber workers at a sawmill in the Akatarawa Valley. Both the upper and lower saw are in motion, cutting through the wood. A timberjack has been placed near the end of the log. The floor surrounding the log is covered in sawdust. Taken by Sydney Charles Smith during the 1900s.
