- Description
A large single-storey house with verandahs all round, roses growing over trellises, and various outbuildings identified (library, fowl-house, stables and barracks, suggesting a permanent military camp, possibly in India or Sri Lanka). The identity of R A C is not known.
A. W. Hands was in Sri Lanka as a young man. He arrived in New Zealand in 1880. The style of the house, with its surrounding verandahs suggests that it is located in a hot country
