Copy negative made by William James Harding of a carte-de-visite portrait of Kereama Tawhai as a young man [negative probably made 1885-1899]. The portrait image was originally taken by photographer William Henry Thomas Partington circa 1880-1885.
Date of original image and copy negative creation is based on death date of subject and location of the photographers. Kereama Tawhai died in 1885 at 21 years old. WHT Partington operated his business at Grey street, Auckland, from 1883. In 1891 the premises were destroyed by fire, and he moved to Whanganui, where Harding operated his business.
