Inscriptions: Verso - centre - The two wahines or women who ate the head & brains of the Revd Volkner at Oportiki [sic]. A print of the same image was for sale at Art+Object’s Rare Book Auction, 22 August 2018. The verso had the wording “Two women who drank Volkner’s blood as it dropped from the heart torn out by Kereopa”. Quantity: 1 b&w original photographic print(s).
