Description

Copy by an unknown Dutch artist after Hodges' engraving published in Cook (1777, I, plate 64, fp 294) ' Monuments in Easter Island'. Shows two Easter Island statues, one broken, on the left, a man alongside, and a human skeleton under a rocky ridge to the right. From James Cook's second voyage to the Pacific. Verso shows handwritten text in Dutch.

There is some variation in the details between this and the engraved version.
