Includes photographs of Balmoral Camp, near Lake Tekapo, a military camp with tents and wooden huts in 1955. A group portrait of soldiers at Bulford Camp during World War I. A group portrait of men in military uniforms in front of a roll of honour for the South African War. The uniforms and cap insignia vary and two civilians are included in the group. According to a typed list which was with the file print (but has been included with this print) the occasion was an annual conference of senior officers of the New Zealand military forces in 1913. Part of a caption on the reverse gives the location of Buckle St and there is a mural of rural scenes painted on the wall behind the group. The photographer is Zak.
Also includes a negative copied from a photograph published in The Weekly Press, 21 January 1900, showing troops on board a ship sailing for the South African War.
