- Comprises reminiscences by Fell of his early life in Nelson and his family's return to Great Britain in 1859 to educate the children. Fell describes family members, people he knew, his schooling in Nelson and the voyage to England. He continues describing his life in England, schooling, moving on to Oxford, trips to the Continent and his many friends. The first three pages are missing and the narrative ends at Fell's 21st birthday.
