The page is headed up 'The flag that's braved a thousand years, The battle and the breeze'. From top left, the men are: Leslie - sailmaker; 'Bill'; Apprentice to Skipper; 'Duke' Humphries; One of the crew; Mr Adams D. A. C. G.; Merris 2nd Mate just off watch well wet through; Mr Jackson a Russian merchant off for the Canterbury Plains; 'Duke' Humphries taking his siesta; 'Harry' the Irishman - steward reporting an observation to the Skipper below; Hossack - steerage.
