Description

View of the front facade of the General Post Office building on Customhouse Quay. Dinghies can be seen hoisted on davits on the quayside. St Andrew's-on-the-Terrace church is to the right of the building in the far distance. The time on the clock in the clock tower is quarter to ten. Photograph taken by Burton Brothers between 1884-1887 (see historical note).

Advertising on the seaward side of the shed on Customhouse Quay for Wilson & Richardson (Drapers, outfitters & importers), and S Danks & Son (Brassfounders & coppersmiths, Brandon Street).
