- 1820 - 1829
- Bates, Arthur Palmer, 1926-2002
Half-length seated portrait of Mary Taylor, wife of Rev. Richard Taylor. Possibly a marriage portrait. She is shown as a young woman dressed in the style of the 1820s, with a dark low-cut dress with fitting top and full sheer sleeves. A vase of flowers is on a table alongside her left arm
The portrait appears to have been painted in England before Mary Taylor came out to New Zealand with her husband, Rev. Richard Taylor, in 1839
Mary Caroline Fox married Richard Taylor, 15 July 1829 at the joint parish of St Mary and St Benedict's, Huntingdon, England
