Description

Full length standing portraits of Hone Heke, his wife and Kawiti. Heke and Kawiti are in Maori clothing, Hariata in European. Hariata has an arm around Heke's shoulder, while Heke is holding a musket and Kawiti, a taiaha.

The original watercolour for this lithograph is at C-012-019. cf. also watercolour of same subject in Leatham (Ruck) album, probably made later from the lithograph.

W. Nicholas, the lithographer, is probably the same person as the lithographer of George Clayton's view of the Bay of Islands in 1845, W. A. Nicholas
