Sir John Gorst and John Logan Campbell on the steps of a Veterans' Home with a group of veterans in their uniforms and wearing their medals. The pillars at the top and bottom of the steps are carved with the names Kitchener, Kenny and MacDonald. A group of three women are looking on the verandah behind them. Photographer unidentified.
Gorst had left New Zealand in 1863 but returned in 1906 as special commissioner to the International Exhibition in Christchurch.
