Apprentice builders, Wainuiomata, New Zealand - Photograph taken by Ross Giblin
Four apprentice builders working on a new hall block at the Brookfield Scout Association Training Centre in Wainuiomata. They are from left - Stewart Rose. Justin chamberlain. Jason Davey. Jason Hague-Smith. Photographed by Evening Post staff photographer Ross Giblin 16 October 1991.
The slump in the bulding industry meant that the future of this group of apprentices was in doubt. Their employer, Fletcher Construction, had difficulty finding work for them, so the company decided to donate their labour to the Scout Association. All of the men were in the last year of their apprenticships.
