Lodge, Nevile Sidney, 1918-1989 :"Looks as though JT's business trip to Queensland last week wasn't too satisfactory." "No, he expected New Zealand's involvement in a joint venture with Australia to show a better return than a 19-all draw." 19 July 1988

Description

As the manager marches grimly into his office two of his employees comments to each other that it looks as though his trip was not too successful and that he had hoped that the joint venture with Australia would have shown a better return than a 19-all draw. Refers to the All Blacks 19-all draw with Australia in 1988. Captain David Kirk led the All Blacks through one of their most dominant periods as they remained unbeaten from 1987 to 1990 except for the 19-all blemish. The boss's 'business trip' was obviously a trip to Australia to watch the game.
