Original caption reads: "NZEF in Japan. New Zealand troops were the first Europeans to land on the island of Mi-shima. Making friends with Japanese children is the one of the easiest things in the world to do. Pte H E Tolley (Wellington), and Pte R V Tiley (Invercargill) "fraternise" in a small way." Photograph taken between 1946 and 1948 by a New Zealand Army photographer.
