Journal covers the period 2 Jul 1819 to 31 Jan 1821 and contains a day-to-day log of of the voyage to Australia and New Zealand. It details the activities of the crew in the Bay of Islands, Hokianga and Whangaroa Harbour and mentions local Maori.
Seven charts accompany the text.
Baskerville was a midshipman on the Dromedary which, after delivering a load of convicts to Sydney, proceeded to New Zealand. The ship spent 9 months gathering spars and charting the rivers and coast around Northland
