Description

The bulk of the collection comprises extensive inwards correspondence and working papers of Sir Francis Henry Dillon Bell, covering his Wellington local body, national political, family, legal and business affairs. Also included are some papers of Sir Francis Dillon Bell (Sir Francis H D Bell's father), papers of Sir Francis H D Bell's son, W H D Bell (killed in France in 1917); papers added to the collection after Sir Francis H D Bell's death, by another son, Cheviot Bell; and research material on Sir Francis H D Bell compiled by William Downie Stewart for his published biography of Bell.
