Mer-Get-Rid of them Energy. "They'll be speechless". 19 February 2009.
A huge man representing Meridian Energy clutches bags of money and grins through his great teech and ample jaw as he considers the shock the locals will get when they find that windmills will be constructed in spite of bitter protest. This may refer to Meridian Energy's offer of unsubordinated notes seeks to exploit a gap in the market between the maturities and interest rates paid by banks and finance companies. The funds raised are for general business purposes including the development of new hydro and wind generating capacity. The securities are called Renewable Energy Notes because Meridian is primarily a business generating power through hydro plants and wind mills.
