Shows Rattray and MacLaggen Streets, Shakespeare and Crown Hotels, ships in the harbour, three Maori and a European man in the foreground
Same scene in Illustrated London news, v. 41, no. 1161, 1862 p. 221. Hatton is known to have used the Illustrated London News as the source for his watercolours. This particular view is based on an early photograph.
