Description

View of Cowes Bay looking south-west down onto the beach from a high vantage point on the headland to the north of the bay. The wharf can be seen in the middle foreground, and a large wooden building (Cowes Bay boarding house / hotel?) is in the middle distance behind trees. People are walking on the beach, and rowing or playing in boats close to shore. A group of people are buying things at the shop on the beachfront opposite the wharf. A tent is erected in the paddock in front of the boarding house. Photographed by William Archer Price in early 1900s.
