Fair copy of diary gives young steerage passenger's lively account of life on an immigrant ship, including references to denominational antipathies. Tristan da Cunha is mentioned.
There are two references to the name of the ship in the diary; the first when a sketch is made of the ship and the second when a baby girl is born on board and named after the ship.

Relationship complexity - Otago Settlers Museum holds an almost identical diary (photocopy) which appears to be the original diary from which this `fair' copy was made.
Wimpenny family emigrated to Dunedin from Batley, Yorkshire on the `Hermione'.
