Arrangement: This collection was reprocessed in Feb-May 2014 in order to improve description. Items have been re-linked to one of the following new reference numbers (series): PAColl-5311-1 (Prints), PAColl-5311-2 (Albums), PAColl-5311-3 (H Series Negatives), PAColl-5311-4 (UK Series Negatives), and PAColl-5411-5 (Loose negatives).

Henry Armytage Sanders was the official New Zealand photographer and cinematographer in France and Belgium. He took all the NZEF historical photographs with serial numbers in the H series. Thomas Scales was the official photographer in the United Kingdom. Malcolm Ross took photographs in Samoa and Egypt, but under censorship guidelines developed by British military HQ he was specifically prohibited from taking photographs in France.

Processing information: Archivists notes - Originally arranged and described in 1997. Major enhancement of descriptive records was undertaken by Photographic Archive staff in 2007. A group of 57 undescribed negatives were processed and added to this collection in June 2017.
