Comprises: two letters written from Naples by Sir Joseph Arnold, 24 Dec 1872 and 28 January 1873 discussing Domett's poetry; letter from Sir George Bowen, Government House, Melbourne, 12 August 1873 thanking Domett for sending him a copy of `Ranolf and Amohia', commenting on the poem and referring to Anthony Trollope as well as his fond feelings for New Zealand; letter from Sir Thomas Gore-Browne, United Service Club, Pall Mall, London, 6 Aug [1873?], commenting favourably on the poem; letter from Henry W Domett, a writer of New York, 3 April 1876, thanking Domett for a copy of the poem, commenting favourably on it and referring to the poetry of Walt Whitman. Also letters to Domett commenting on `Ranolf and Amohia' from Richard Hengist Horne, London, 20 April 1877 and Sir Henry Parkes, Sydney, 9 January 1875. Also letter from Sir George Grey, Kawau, 28 November 1871 predating the publication of the poem.

Alfred Domett returned to live in England in 1871 and his classic poem, `Ranolf and Amohia' was published in 1872
