Seatoun

Seatown

The traditional Maori name for the Seatoun area is Te Turanga o Kupe where the navigator, Kupe, first set ashore. Kupe also named the foreshore, Kirikiritatangi after the rattling and rumbling caused by the waves disturbing gravel on the beach.
