Levi, Phineas, 1858-1942

Wellington lawyer for some 53 years. He was born in Sydney and came to New Zealand aged eleven. He was educated in Dunedin and practised law for two years in the South Island, a year in Palmerston North, before coming to Wellington. He was at one time a partner of Frederick G Bolton, and for over 25 years a partner of Thomas Wilford in the legal firm of Wilford and Levi. Other partners were P W Jackson, M G Neal and J B Yaldwun. He was a prominent Freemason, and a member of the Eastbourne Bowling Club and the Victoria College Council. He was also mayor of Eastbourne ca 1917-1918.
