Reminiscences written at Steventon, England on two separate occasions in 1846 and 1856. They cover an English boyhood and schooling 1840-1843, life in the Royal Navy on HMS Mutine 1843-1846, and an account of the Knight family to 1856. The latter part of the reminiscences were written during a trip home from New Zealand in 1856.

Richard Knight and his brother Arthur emigrated to New Zealand in 1852 and bought land on the Selwyn River, Canterbury, which they named Steventon.
