Key, John Phillip (Rt Hon), 1961-

New Zealand National Party Member of Parliament for Helensville from August 2002. Has held roles as Deputy Spokesperson Finance (2003-2004), Spokesperson for both Communications (2003-2004), and Statistics (2003-2004) and Associate Spokesperson for Transport (2002-2004). Was previously involved in investment banking for Merrill Lynch in Singapore, London, New York and Sydney (1980s to 1990s). Returned to New Zealand in 2001. Became leader of the National Party in November 2006. Elected Prime Minister of New Zealand in the 2008 General Election. Has also held portfolios as Minister Responsible for the GCSB (2008-2014), and Minister in charge of the NZ Security Intelligence Service (2011-2014). Resigned as Prime Minister on 12 December 2016, and left Parliament on 14 April 2017. Married to Bronagh Key.
