Dunedin artist, known as Annie. Born Geelong, Australia, the youngest daughter of Hon. Matthew Holmes (1817-1901) and sister of artist Katherine Holmes. Arrived in New Zealand in 1859 (aged 12) settling at Anderson's Bay, Dunedin. Married John White (1849-1904), barrister and sollicitor, in October 1876, and lived at 'Edlin', Anderson's Bay. They had seven children. She exhibited at the Otago Art Society and was a member of the Dunedin Art Club at the same time as various members of the Hodgkins family and her sketches appears in their albums. Judge John White is a descendant.
