Lawson, Alexander, -1930

Scottish. Immigrated from Alloa, Scotland aboard the `Nelson' in 1875. Arrived in New Zealand in his 20s, settled in Wellington. Worked as a signwriter, glass embosser and decorator. Established his own signwriting business on Cuba Street in 1880. Husband of Isabella Morris from Wales. Buried with his daughter Blanche Veitch (née Lawson; d 1917) in Bolton Street Cemetery, Wellington. Died in 1930 aged 79 years [Source: Online historical BDM.
