Opposition Spokesman on Justice, Housing, Timberlands and SILNA (as at 2000). 1999 Minister for Justice and Minister Responsible for Housing N.Z. 1998 Minister of Local Government and Youth Affairs. 1997 Minister for State Owned Enterprises, Radio N.Z., Minister in Charge of Audit, Associate Minister of Justice. Minister of Health and State Services 2008- under John Key. Awarded CNZM for services as Member of Parliament in 2015 New Years Honours List.
