Lived at Ranana on the Whanganui River. Tahu Paetaha married Nga pua o te Rangi (Ngapera) Kahutaiki Materiki. They had four children, their names, Maata, Hinerau, Rora and Whakawhiti. This was Ngapera's second marriage. Rora, the only son of Tahu died at the age of 21. Left no issue. Tahu lived with his family on a small farmlet close to Ranana Marae. According to Ruka Broughton senior, Tahu was renowned for his skill and knowledge of the taiaha. Tahu is buried across the Whanganui river, opposite Pungarehu Marae.
