Brownlie, Maurice John, 1897-1957

He represented New Zealand in the All Blacks teams of 1922, 1923, 1924, 1925, 1926 and 1928. In his time he played 119 first-class football matches and was captain of the team which toured South Africa in 1928. After this tour he retired from international rugby. Brother of Cyril James Brownlie (1896-1954). See Encyclopaedia of New Zealand Vol 1, p 259
