Wilson, Ruth Wix, 1898-1993, Wix, Margaret Alice Ruth, 1898-1993

School teacher. Born at Richmond, Nelson, one of seven children. Taught mainly in sole-charge country schools. Attended Wellington College of Education toward the end of her career. In 1939 she travelled to Europe and cycled 3500 miles around Britain. Retired to the Hutt Valley but in 1982 married and moved to Oamaru. After the death of her husband she returned to the PSSA Home in Lower Hutt. Daughter of Charles Wix (1853-1914) and Elizabeth Ings (1866-1936). (Mss Collection and Interview)
