Roth, Bert, 1917-1994, Roth, Otti, 1917-1994, Saw (Pseudonym), 1917-1994

Socialist, labourer, librarian, historian. Librarian (National Library of New Zealand and Auckland University Library); writer (numerous books and articles). Born in Austria, attended university in Vienna, emigrated as refugee to France and then to New Zealand in 1939. In 1946 he married Margaret (Margot) Frances Hogben (divorced 1984). Known for his work as a trade union and labour historian. Son of Emil Roth and Therese (née Heilpern). See DNZB (Vol 5, 1941-1960, p453-455, R28)
