Christchurch Teachers College

Canterbury Teachers College (Christchurch, N.Z.)

Began as department of the Christchurch Normal School, which was established in 1873 and located on the corner of Montreal Street and Kilmore Street. In 1927 a purpose-built building for 300 students was erected on Peterborough Street. A women's block and craft lecture room were added in 1930.

College moved to purpose-built campus in Ilam in 1978. Between 1987 and 1993, the Peterborough Centre, as it was then called, became an extension of the Arts Centre Trust Board and was sub-leased to various tenants. Building was purchased in 1997 by developer Robert Brown and converted into 37 apartments, which are known as the Peterborough Centre (or sometimes Peterborough Apartments).
