One of the friends who carried James K. Baxter's coffin at his tangi at Jerusalem on 25 October 1972. Participant at the Māori Land March (Te Roopu o te Matakite) in 1975. Carver who built a double-hulled canoe in Tahiti and sailed to Rarotonga and New Zealand in 1985. In 1980/1981 lived at Porirua and was involved in the construction of a traditional waka called Hawaiki-Nui. Interviewed by John Gillies in the Gisborne Herald in February 2016.
