Jackson, Henry, 1830-1906

Son of John Jackson (1799?-1869) and Honoria Anna Maria Jackson (1804?-1869). Surveyor and Member of Parliament. In 1862 he came to New Zealand on furlough from the Indian Navy. On the abolition of that Navy he remained in New Zealand as a surveyor. In 1865 he was appointed Chief Surveyor of the Wellington Provincial District. Retiring in 1879, he was elected to Parliament as member for the Hutt district in 1880, but only served as member for a short time. See DNZB / Scholefield (Vol 1, p432); C A Lawn.
