Taipua, Kahurangi, active 1920

Kahurangi was a high born woman of the Ngai Te Rangi tribe of Tauranga. She was married to Umakaihau Taipua, a senior chief of the Ngati Raukawa tribe of Otaki, to whom she had a large family. Sadly all her children, save one son, died during the flu epidemics of the early 20th century. Umakaihau was a son of Hoani Taipua MHR.
