Fisk Jubilee Singers

American group, formed in 1871; they visited New Zealand in 1887, 1905, 1918, 1924 and 1936. An 1886 Australian programme lists the members as: Mattie L Lawrence, Patti J Malone, Maggie Carnes, Belle F Gibbons, Miss Georgie A Gibbons, Maggie E Wilson, Mr F J Loudin, Mr O M McAdoo, Mr John T L Lane, Mr R B Williams, Miss Leota F Henson. This was said to be the original company. Members in 1918 included: Mr Harold Wilson, Mr Marshall Palmer, Mr Sid Haynes, Miss Belle F Gibbons, Mr Les Belcher, Miss Clare Solly, Miss Bertha Millar, Miss Leila Wyburd. In 1936 members included: W Huntley Spencer (musical director), C D'Arcy Allen (director), Bada Ross, Rhoda Rainton, John Bryant, Marguerite Edwards, Harvey Sandra, Alton Christie, Moana Lawrence, Clarke Gordon, Joy Sinclair.
