Mau (Organization), Mau Movement
The Mau movement. Name of nationalist movement in Western Samoa which opposed the inept paternalism of the New Zealand administration of the islands, in the early 1920s. The Mau was intially lead by Olaf Nelson, who was half Samoan and half Swedish.
