Description: Comprises photographs, some taken by identified photographers and some taken by unknown photographers, from the 1890s to the 1980s, of people and activities associated with the New Zealand Post Office, and the New Zealand Post Office Union and its predecessor organisations. Includes: - formal group and individual photographs, including telegraph messengers, the Dunedin Post and Telegraph Association Football Club, Christchurch Postmen's Picnic Committee, and one of the Dunedin Post Office staff produced in 1897 in commemoration of Queen Victoria's Jubilee in 1887; - scenes at conferences and other meetings, including protest meetings and marches in the 1970s and 1980s; - proof sheets of a Post Office Ball, possibly in the late 1970s; - various exteriors and interiors of Post Office workplaces, including a Railways Travelling Post Office (RTPO) van in the 1950s. Many of the photographs are annotated on the back with names of subjects and/or names of the donors of the photographs, and annotations about their placement in "The Katipo" publication. Some are accompanied by envelopes and sheets of paper that also list subjects and/or note their origination.
